“…he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the holy Spirit.'” John 20:22
There is a close relationship between the sacraments of baptism and confirmation. Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, community, and the world. We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service.
Preparation begins in seventh grade and culminates with the Sacrament of Confirmation in the fall of eighth grade. It includes classroom study in both the school and faith formation classes, as well as opportunities to collaborate with parents and sponsors. As we are called to mission at Confirmation, service to others follows this sacrament and is done as a group throughout the remainder of the school year.
For adults who have already been baptized and received First Holy Communion and would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, there will be a retreat to help them prepare. It will include lunch, dinner, Mass, and many opportunities to reflect on the graces of Confirmation. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on the Solemnity of Christ the King during a weekend Mass.
